Public sector organizations are increasingly adopting “cloud-first” strategy to take advantage of greater flexibility, predictable cost, and retention of technical talent, among other benefits.  As IT executives start developing a business case for selecting and deploying a cloud solution, they find themselves grappling with many questions.  This session explores the process of developing approaches for selection, and practical steps for evaluating, describing, and quantifying benefits, cost saving, and risks associated with deploying solutions or migrating existing solutions to the cloud.

[CAS3477] Powering Financial Reporting with Oracle Financial Consolidation & Close Cloud – Tuesday, 9/17 at 4:15 PM PT in Moscone West, Room 2024B

This case study is like many: a customer uses Excel as its primary tool for financial reporting and spends countless hours on monthly and quarterly close.  In this session, hear how Oracle Fusion and Oracle Financial Consolidation and Close Cloud provided the capability to standardize the hierarchies required for financial reports. Both Oracle General Ledger and Oracle Financial Consolidation and Close Cloud can easily integrate with Smart Views and utilize a financial reporting studio to create standardized reports. Topics covered include the metadata integration process between Oracle General Ledger and Oracle Financial Consolidation and Close Cloud, the minimal training requirements between the systems, the power of Smart View for analysis, lessons learned, and tips and tricks.

Applications Software Technology LLC (AST) has announced that AST CEO Justin Winter has appointed Stephen Engel as its Chief Revenue Officer. In this role, Mr. Engel will lead AST’s global go-to-market strategy, and guide worldwide sales and other go-to-market operations to meet and accelerate growth.

Mr. Engel is a seasoned leader, with more than 25 years of sales and delivery experience regionally and globally. Before joining AST, Stephen spent 18 years at Hitachi Consulting where he held multiple leadership positions, including SVP of Strategic Accounts, Strategic Solutions, and Managed Services Sales. Mr. Engel brings a rather unique perspective to sales, with experience as a supply chain practitioner, delivery leader, and keynote speaker. Prior to Hitachi, Stephen worked for Arthur Andersen, a boutique supply chain consulting firm, and in the aerospace industry for Boeing and Bombardier.

“We are very pleased to welcome Stephen to our executive team. With his impressive track record in sales and customer success in the cloud, I am confident that he is the right person to lead our go-to-market organization and continue building on our foundation to drive growth,” said Justin Winter, Chief Executive Officer, AST. “Stephen has a wealth of experience in creating customer success and maintaining lasting customer relationships. On Wednesday, September 18, AST and BigCompass will host the September MuleSoft Meetup in Chicago – “Connect the Dots: Logging with Redwood Logistics”.  Register now to reserve your spot!

MuleSoft Meetups are community-led events meant to bring users together to explore, teach, and learn about API-led connectivity by sharing use cases and hands-on exercises.

Organizations like Redwood Logistics are implementing smart ways to gain visibility into their systems through logging all application components – and they’re realizing immense value in doing so.  This Meetup will cover a case study of how Redwood has used the MuleSoft Anypoint Platform to create a scalable platform that processes a high volume of transportation and logistics-related transactions in one centralized solution, and can communicate with external systems, such as ELK, Splunk, or database.
