Marty Small
Vice President, Business Development
As Vice President of Business Development since 2000, Mr. Small leads AST's new business development and marketing team. Mr. Small is also responsible for AST's strategic business alliance programs and helped guide the firm towards attaining the Certified Advantage Partnership with Oracle in 2004.
Mr. Small has over 30 years of sales, marketing, new product development and management experience in the health care, consumer products and government sector. Prior to joining AST, Mr. Small held several senior level sales & marketing positions including: VP Business Development at Team Rehabilitation Systems, Inc.; Director National Accounts at Bergen-Brunswig Corporation. As Founder and CEO of Welcome Home America, Harvard Health Care, and Hydro-Med Products, Inc. he orchestrated the sale of Harvard and Hydro-Med to large multi-national firms in the Patient Care provider and Health Industry supply arenas.
Mr. Small holds a BSBA Marketing degree from Roosevelt University, Chicago, Illinois.

About myself:
After serving in the U.S. Army stationed in Hawaii, I returned to Chicago to finish college where I met my wife-to-be Merle, over 50 years ago. In 2009 we will celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary along with our 3 children and 7 grandchildren. Together we have lived in Chicago, New York and Dallas returning to Chicago in the early 90’s to start a new career in the technology field.
Favorite childhood movie:
Tarzan and anything with John Wayne, Roy Rogers or Gene Autry.
Favorite childhood toy:
Handmade scooter. You would take an orange crate, hammer it on top of a 2x4 board and place rollerskates on the bottom.
Favorite food to eat or cook:
Baby back ribs, dry rub.
Favorite music:
Piano jazz.
Idol:
Boss at a local retail store while in college, John Garry. He was the epitome of the perfect boss who taught me the importance of treating employees and subordinates fairly. He was a class act that was able to motivate everyone to perform beyond what was expected..
